AI Maintenance Assistant that Grows Stronger with Every Repair
Vauban-X Maintenance is an AI maintenance assistant that lives inside the plant and understands its machines. It supports machine breakdown diagnosis, guides repairs step by step, and works as a predictive maintenance system to identify failures before they stop production. Everything runs on the customer’s own servers, so production data stays inside the site.
Before deployment, Vauban-X begins with a free maintenance assessment. We come to the workshop, analyse the machine fleet, review breakdown history and current maintenance practices, then deliver a written diagnosis.

The Operator
The operator explains the problem in their own words. For example: “It jams on the third fold, and the red light stays on.” To make reporting easier, the AI maintenance assistant asks operators simple questions, one step at a time, to help find the cause. If the problem can be fixed on-site, the system guides the operator through the repair. If not, it helps show when a technician is truly needed. No jargon, no manual, no error code to search for.
The Maintenance Manager
It provides an overview of the entire machine fleet: recurring breakdowns, equipment causing the most downtime, and preventive maintenance schedules generated machine by machine. The system turns recurring incidents into clear action priorities. Put simply, we create a digital twin of your maintenance manager, available 24/7.
Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG)
Every repair, breakdown, and technician note enriches the knowledge base (RAG). Over time, it becomes the living memory of the plant: capturing how its machines truly run and fail. This ever-expanding memory makes the predictive maintenance system more accurate with every intervention. The company’s know-how stays within the company—it no longer walks out the door into retirement.
The Vauban-X Difference
Vauban-X is sovereign by design. Everything runs on the customer’s infrastructure: no foreign cloud, no machine manufacturer looking at production cycles. The system is trained on real breakdowns, not only on manuals. It learns from the plant’s own incident records and from the people who work there.
It also captures what is about to be lost. In every workshop, two or three people know why a given machine misbehaves on Monday mornings. That knowledge is written nowhere and retires with them. Vauban-X preserves it, structures it, and makes it usable.
Developed under incubation at Institut List, CEA Paris-Saclay, and deployed as the delegated partner of UNIIC across 23 companies and 365 machines, Vauban-X is built for the shop floor by people who know it.
